Captain

The Irmo Fire District is taking applications to create a hiring list for the position of Captain. The application deadline will be April 16th at 5:00pm.

 

Position Summary:

Under direction of the Battalion Chief, directs the activities of fire personnel during an assigned shift; supervises his/her company personnel and has responsibility for their safety; responsible for administrative oversight of the station, equipment, apparatus, and all activities pertaining to such within his/her station; assigning, directing, and supervising firefighting, rescue, haz-mat, medical emergencies, and related life and property protection; implementing and/or integrating into an incident management system; making decisions regarding firefighting/rescue methods to be used; deploying and managing personnel; ensuring the safe operation of fire equipment and apparatus; responsible for prioritizing, scheduling, and completing tasks associated with non-emergency response activities such as pre-fire planning, fire and life safety education, and station-based training activities; motivating, supervising, training, and evaluating subordinate-level employees is a significant element of this position.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Qualification

NFPA 1021 Fire Officer I Qualification

NFPA 1041 Fire Instructor I Qualification

5 years of verifiable fire service experience

American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response and CPR for the Professional Rescuer or Higher Medical Responder Qualification
